To say our bodies are a miraculous thing is an understatement! Pregnancy is a perfect example of our body’s amazing potential. During pregnancy, our bodies undergo some pretty major changes in order to grow our babies. Your heartbeat and breathing rate are faster. Your breasts become tender, larger and heavier. Your growing uterus puts pressure on your bladder, so you feel like you need to urinate a lot. You may feel swinging moods. With all these rapid changes many body aches and pains can arise.
What is the Webster technique?
Chiropractic care, specifically the Webster Technique can help support the prenatal body as it flows through all changes that come with pregnancy. The main purpose of the Webster technique is to reduce interference within the pregnant woman’s nervous system, specifically the sacral nerve. This interference is often caused by subluxations (misalignments) in the pelvis.
The Webster technique consists of a chiropractic evaluation of the sacrum and it’s alignment within the pelvis. This technique focuses on specific ligaments, muscles, and joints to make the pregnancy and childbirth experience easier. It works on the joints in the pelvis to ensure proper motion so that when the baby is coming through the canal, the pelvis is able to open up without issues. This technique also works on the ligaments and muscles to reduce tension on them so that they are not pulling on the uterus or pelvis which may cause imbalances.
